  34. Trapdoor is used to Upload/Download Fidonet Messages.  It's the Frontend of a
  35. BBS!  You know when you log on a FIDO BBS and you have to hit ESC or something
  36. to continue. to log on, otherwise it may think your another Mailer like
  37. Trapdoor trying to connect to send/recive the new messages.  Or if your a
  38. Point(A NON BBS) that logs on with say Trapdoor to the BBS, say DLG Pro that's
  39. using Trapdoor to just grab all your new Messages and send anything you may
  40. have wrote without acually having to Log ONTO the BBS like most everyone else.
  41. Ummm, TO put it more simply, you DON'T NEED it for the Internet, Not that you
  42. could acually use it anyway for the Internet.

  44. I used to run a BBS for around 5 Years, and had Fidonet and Familynet access
  45. to my system using DLG Pro for the BBS and Trapdoor for the Mailer.  When My
  46. system when Down, I used Trapdoor for my Mailer and Foozle for my Mail Reader
  47. which is like SPOT.  Since being on the Internet, I've stopped all the Fidonet
  48. stuff.

  50. To put it more Simply yet, You don't use THOR to connect to the Internet to
  51. get your messages do you!  Same with SPOT or Fozzle or whatever other Message
  52. readers. You use the ConnectThor (Probley) for the Internet for THOR, where
  53. SPOT Foozle, and Even THOR would use Trapdoor or some other Mailer to
  54. basically connect onto a Fidonet NODE (Though there are other Message
  55. Networks) to Pickup Packed messages that are waiting for you to grab, and to
  56. send anything you may have written.  From there it gets Passed from BBS to BBS
  57. all over the world, it's not FAST, like the Internet, but it does get the Job
  58. done.
